Japanese "IKI"<2018.1.26>

I went to Mr. Mitsuo Toyoda's collection exhibition.

I will introduce a rare yukata which was exhibited.

It's the yukata of the fish market leader and deputy leader who wore at the festival.

It is a yukata robe around 1955.

The dyeing technique is tie-dye.

What is tie-dye?

A method of producing textile patterns by tying parts of the fabric to shield it from the dye.

It's the yukata of the fish market leader.

There is fish design on shoulder.

The design of the fish at the hem and the word "市場(ichiba=fish-market)" by Kanji next to it are written.

The other design of the hem has a round shaped design of waves.

It's the yukata of the fish market deputy leader.

There is fish design on shoulder.

The design of the fish at the hem and the word "水産(suisan=Marine products)" by Kanji next to it are written.

The other design of the hem has a round shaped design of waves.

I think that there are many people who are studying "Japanese IKI" by foreigners.

We Japanese people can feel "IKI" in this yukata.
